24 March 2017

The Open Day of the Hong Kong Observatory will take place on the afternoon of March 25 (Saturday) and the day of March 26 (Sunday).

Members of the public are welcome to view the exhibits prepared under this year's theme of "Understanding Clouds". Visitors can watch the weather report on the spot hosted by the Observatory's scientific officers, participate in the game booths and they will also have the chance to take photographs with Director of the Observatory and Dr Tin, the Observatory Mascot.

Details of the open day are as follows:

Venue: Hong Kong Observatory Headquarters (No. 134A Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui)

Entry Time:

March 25 (Saturday) 12 noon to 4.30pm

March 26 (Sunday) 10am to 4.30pm

For more information about the open day, please visit the website: http://www.hko.gov.hk/openday/2017/indexe.htm

As a large number of visitors is expected, one-way flow will be implemented. Visitors should enter via the front gate on Nathan Road and exit at the back gate on Observatory Road. According to past experience, the afternoon sessions are usually more crowded. Visitors are advised to come at the morning sessions.

Besides, a cold front is expected to cross the south China coast later tomorrow. There will be a few rain patches and the temperatures will fall significantly later tomorrow. Sunday will be rather cool with occasional rain. Please be aware and prepared for the changing weather conditions (e.g. bring umbrella and wear appropriate clothes).
