Tropical cyclone warnings during the passage of Typhoon Rose (1971)

11 April 2013

To further enrich the content of the webpage on typhoons that have necessitated the issuance of the Hurricane Signal Number 10, local tropical cyclone warnings of Signal No. 8 or above issued by the Observatory during the passage of Typhoon Rose (1971) are made available on the following webpage:

http://www.weather.gov.hk/informtc/historical_tc/no10_reporte.htm.

The webpage will continue to provide a channel for those who are interested in accessing past tropical cyclone warnings.

Please note that a revision in the local tropical cyclone warning signal system had taken place in 1973 to avoid possible confusion arising out of the inter-changing of signals among the Gale or Storm Signals. Signals 5 to 8 were replaced by 8 NW, 8 SW, 8 NE and 8 SE respectively starting from 1 January of that year and this system has been in use ever since.
