Global warming has led to melting of polar glaciers and serious environmental impacts to our Earth. It is important for us to combat climate change and mitigate its impacts. With an aim to enhancing public awareness on climate change, the Environmental Campaign Committee, the Polar Museum Foundation, the Environmental Protection Department, the Hong Kong Observatory and the Hong Kong Science Museum jointly organize the 'Global Warming and Climate Variation' Seminar Series. Riding on the success of the previous seven seminars, the eighth public seminar cum exhibition will be held on 22 October 2011 (Saturday) at the Lecture Hall of Hong Kong Science Museum. Professor GAO Deng Yi, Chairman of China Association for Scientific Expedition, has been invited to share his knowledge and insights with the public at the seminar. Local guest speakers, Mr. LEUNG Wing Mo, Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory and Dr. LEE Lok Sze, Rebecca, Founder of Polar Museum Foundation, have also been invited to join the discussion session afterwards. The exhibition will showcase a large number of precious photos taken by Dr. Rebecca Lee during her polar expeditions to illustrate the close relationship between climate change and the Poles.
