Moon phase icon now featured on HKO front page

The shape of the moon (moon phase) is related to many human activities, e.g. moon watching, stargazing and determination of tide, traditional Chinese calendar and Islamic calendar. To make moon phase information available to the public, a moon phase icon with moon age (time from the last new moon) shown on mouse over is added to the front page of HKO website. A sample of the moon phase icon is shown on the following image:
