Satellite Imagery of Interest: Super Typhoon Lan
30 October 2017
A new Satellite Imagery of Interest is now available on the Observatory's website. The satellite imagery shows the structure of Super Typhoon Lan.

In the morning of 21 October 2017, tropical cyclone Lan intensified into a Super Typhoon over the seas east of the Ryukyu Islands. The satellite imagery showed an integral and symmetric structure of Super Typhoon Lan; its eye and eye wall could be clearly seen. The animation also captured cloud bands rotating around the eye of Lan. (The imageries were captured by Himawari-8 satellite of Japan Meteorological Agency)
