“Satellite Imagery of Interest”: Typhoon Nida

On 1 August 2016, Typhoon Nida edged close to the coast of Guangdong. Enhanced infra-red satellite imagery shows the spiral cloud band structure of Nida. The size of Nida’s eye was even bigger than that of Hong Kong at that time. (The imagery was captured by Himawari-8 satellite of Japan Meteorological Agency)
