The Hong Kong Observatory's team of weatherman at the Airport Meteorological Office worked hard in the background to safeguard flights from hazardous weather. Recognizing the team's effort in providing excellent people-oriented services to the aviation community and contribution in protecting aviation safety under significant convective weather conditions, the team, "Aviation Safety Safeguarding Team", won the Meritorious Award under the Specialized Service Award of Team Award in the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2013.
