The Hong Kong Observatory received the Web Care Award 2004

The Hong Kong Observatory participated in the Web Care Campaign organized by the Internet Professionals Association this year and received the "Web Care Award 2004" in recognition of achieving primary level web accessibility.

The purpose of the Web Care Campaign is to break the digital barrier, so that information technology could benefit more members of the public.  Providing meteorological information to all walks of life via the Internet is a major service area of the Hong Kong Observatory.  Creating improved web accessibility environment to let those under-privileged groups having equal opportunities to enjoy the benefits brought by the Internet is in line with the prevailing development direction of the Hong Kong Observatory as regards providing service to the public.
