Compliment on the Observatory's work: Email from ex-Deputy Director of Immigration (16 September 2009)

Compliment to Hong Kong Observatory on handling of Typhoon Koppu
(Email from ex-Deputy Director of Immigration received on 16 September 2009)

Dear BY,

Congratulations to you and your colleagues on the way you dealt with Tropical Cyclone Koppu.

With warnings administered in a timely manner by the Hong Kong Observatory, our city eased to a halt in the evening the day before and saw an orderly return to normal life yesterday afternoon. This could not have been achieved without a profound knowledge of typhoons. Every step was well thought out, demonstrating great sensitivity to the need of people. I have noted of no criticisms on both the printed and electronic media today. Indeed, your efforts were laudable and the good work should be applauded.

I know you are busy. So don't bother to respond to this note, which is to let you know how much I appreciate the quality service delivered by your agency.

I am proud of you!
