Does the Observatory produce radioactive wastes in the daily routine work?

The Observatory has to employ radioactive sources regularly for calibration of equipment in the environmental radiation monitoring. This is to maintain measurement accuracy in order to ensure public safety. The radiation level of the calibration sources used by the Observatory is not high. They are stored in a safe and proper place. When the calibration sources are decommissioned due to radioactive decay or replacement of equipment, the Observatory will store and handle these radioactive materials properly, so as to ensure that they will not affect the public and environment.
