How much dose are the passengers subjected to ?

This depends on a number of factors including the departure point, destination, route, flight level pattern and the activity of cosmic rays at the time. Since most of the particles in cosmic rays are charged, the earth's magnetic field tends to steer them towards the poles, hence cosmic radiation dose generally increases with latitude. As a result, air travel at high latitudes and across the north pole will entail a higher level of radiation.
