How does the strength of cosmic radiation vary with height ?

The Earth's atmosphere protects us from exposure to cosmic rays. Before they reach the earth's surface, the cosmic rays are blocked by the atmosphere and lost some of their energy. As a result, the strength of cosmic radiation at high altitudes is many times that on the surface.
