Figure 2.4

Infra-red satellite imagery of Super Typhoon Jelawat (1217) at peak intensity at 2 a.m. on 25 September 2012. Jelawat, one of the most intense tropical cyclones in 2012, was centred over the western North Pacific about 750 km east of Manila with an estimated maximum sustained wind of 220 km/h and a minimum sea-level pressure of 905 hPa at that time.

[The satellite imagery was originally captured by the Multi-functional Transport Satellite (MTSAT-2) of Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA).]
