Hong Kong Observatory Open Day to be held this weekend

17 March 2016

The annual Open Day of the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) will take place on March 19 (Saturday) and March 20 (Sunday).

This year's Open Day is one of the highlight events of the "Appreciate Hong Kong" campaign. With the theme of 2016 World Meteorological Day - "Hotter, Drier, Wetter‧Face the Future", the exhibitions at the Open Day will focus on climate change to introduce to the public how the HKO applies the latest technologies to provide various services to respond to the challenges brought by global warming and extreme weather.

Visitors can also learn about how TV weather programmes are produced, join the fun at the game booths, and have the chance to take photographs with the Director of the HKO and the HKO's Mascot, Dr Tin.
Details of the Open Day are as follows:

Venue:

HKO Headquarters (134A Nathan Road, Tsim Sha Tsui)

Time:

March 19 (Saturday)

11.30am to 4.30pm

March 20 (Sunday)

10.00am to 4.30pm

As a large number of visitors is expected, one-way flow will be implemented. Visitors should enter via the front gate on Nathan Road and exit at the back gate on Observatory Road. According to past experience, the afternoon sessions are usually more crowded. Visitors are advised to come at the morning sessions.
