HKO signs technical co-operation agreement with Environmental Radiation Monitoring Technical Center

The Hong Kong Observatory and the Environmental Radiation Monitoring Technical Center (RMTC) of the Ministry of Environmental Protection signed a co-operation agreement at RMTC, Hangzhou today (January 24) to promote further exchange and co-operation between the two services on environmental radiation monitoring technology.

This is the first technical co-operation agreement between the Observatory and an environmental radiation monitoring service in the Mainland. Both services share the same principle and objective in environmental radiation monitoring - the use of the state of the art technology in making accurate measurements for protecting public safety. The two services will collaborate closely in various areas of environmental radiation monitoring including exchange of information and technology, inter-comparison of instruments, training and research activities with the aim of enhancing the technical and service levels of both parties.
