The Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Dr Lee Boon-ying, chaired the biennial high-level meeting with the China Meteorological Administration (CMA) on December 1 at the Observatory's Headquarters. The Deputy Director of the CMA, Mr Shen Xiaonong, headed a six-member delegation from the Administration. The two sides reviewed the co-operation between the CMA and the Observatory during the past two years and agreed on areas of future co-operations.
Items on agenda included meteorological observations, communication, technology in support of forecasting and warning operations, weather services, climate change, scientific research, exchange visits, as well as training and education. Both sides agreed to maintain momentum and close collaboration in all areas in the next two years, as well as promoting technological advancement and service enhancement. The delegation of the CMA also took the opportunity to visit the Central Forecasting Office and other meteorological facilities to see the latest development of the Observatory.
