Public's reports of unidentified flying objects
10 September 2010
The Hong Kong Observatory received eight reports of suspected unidentified flying object sighting during the overnight of September 8 (Wednesday). There were three reports referring to sighting near the entrance of Tai Lam Tunnel. This has been identified to be a street lamp. Reference may be made to Google Street View, with URL below:

There was also a report claiming suspected unidentified flying objects on a weather photo captured at Cheung Chau by the Observatory on September 8 (figure 1). After investigation, this was found to be caused by light from a nearby lamp reflected by a protective glass in front of the camera. The same phenomenon also appears on normal days (figure 2 shows the image captured on September 9).
For the rest of the reports, as no photograph or detailed information was given, it is not possible for the Observatory to carry out any study.
