The team was commended for their whole-hearted effort in close collaboration with volunteers and retired HKO colleagues to recover historical tropical cyclone signal records and develop a new webpage for accessing the records. Their contribution has received positive feedbacks from the public and weather fans and has enhanced the image of the department.

The colleague was commended for his whole-hearted effort in dealing with the power failure incident occurred at a remote island during the passage of tropical cyclone. He liaised repeatedly with relevant parties and handled system problems expeditiously to reduce the impact of power outage to HKO’s operation to the minimum. His meritorious act in coping with emergency situation was praise-worthy.

The team was commended for their substantial contributions in the major enhancements in King’s Park Upper-air Meteorological Station (the Station) for a more accurate measurement of the variation of water vapour content in the upper atmosphere.  The Station was subsequently accepted by World Meteorological Organization Global Climate Observing System (GCOS) Secretariat as a candidate GCOS Reference Upper Air Network site.  Their contributions have greatly enhanced the image of the department.
