The team was commended for their effort in efficiently repairing the automatic weather station at Tuoning Islands in the Mainland, after the passage of Super Typhoon Mangkhut. Their prompt actions had enabled the Observatory to continue to provide reliable observational data during tropical storm Weipa's assault on Hong Kong, and made significant contributions to enhancing the efficiency and professional image of the Observatory.

They worked outside office hours until midnight to ensure the services could be resumed, which helped upholding the efficiency and professional image of the Observatory.

The team was commended for their professional and reliable support to the Observatory’s project on three-dimensional Building Information Modeling for the Tate’s Cairn Weather Radar Station, which had enhanced the training and maintenance of the radar system. The project was also awarded Honorable Mention in the Autodesk Hong Kong Building Information Modelling Awards 2019, contributed to enhancing the professional image of the Observatory.
Ms SONG Man-kuen Sandy, SSO The colleague was commended for her exceptionally meritorious performance in maintaining the critical operation of the Observatory. Arising from the public activities since June 2019, disruption to road traffic and public transport made it difficult and risky for staff on shift to return to work at the Central Forecasting Office, particularly during the evening hours. She kept close watch on the social situation, and promptly reviewed the shift pattern of weather forecasters to develop a new shift arrangement to greatly alleviate the impact to the Observatory’s operation.
Ms CHIU Chiu-yee, CSA The colleague was commended for her exceptionally meritorious performance in maintaining the critical operation of the Observatory. Arising from the public activities since June 2019, road traffic or public transport services were disrupted. She kept close watch on the social situation and coordinated with Admin Division in arranging departmental transportation service for staff, and thus alleviated the impact to the Observatory’s operation.

In light of the severe road conditions and significant pressure arising from the public activities since June 2019, the team was commended for their outstanding performance in providing quality transportation services to colleagues in need, including emergency services outside working hours, demonstrating a high sense of responsibility and professionalism.

The team was commended for their exceptionally meritorious performance in maintaining the critical operation of the Observatory. Airport-bound traffic in Tung Chung was seriously disrupted due to public activities on 1 September 2019. They made the best effort to report duty at Airport Meteorological Office by advancing the office journey and walking a long way from Tung Chung MTR Station to Gate 3 of the Airport. They demonstrated strong sense of dedication and commitment, exemplifying the spirit of service.
