Mr Wong Chi-wai, Senior Scientific Assistant(F)27

These three officers were commended for their devotion and effort in organizing the anemometer design competition for primary and secondary school students. The success of the competition has enhanced the image of the Observatory. For Ms Chiu, she was also commended for her great commitment in restoring the wind information of Cheung Chau within a short period of time on the Observatory's website during the imminent approach of Typhoon Koppu in September 2009.

The officers were commended for their prompt, efficient and professional service in the restoration of Cheung Chau weather station during the imminent approach of Typhoon Koppu in September 2009.

These two officers were commended for their devotion and effort in restoring the HKO network or servers whenever problems arouse. Even the incidents were occurred out of their office hours, they would take immediate actions to rectify the problems so as to minimize the effect to the provision of HKO service.

These three officers were commended for their devotion and effort in conducting a survey jointly with the Department of Health on awareness of UV radiation among primary school students. The Observatory's professional image in caring about community was greatly enhanced.

The officer was commended for her great devotion and effort in taking up the duties of teaching Student Scientific Assistants. She was the first Senior Scientific Assistant/Scientific Assistant to do so and her positive move has enabled other colleagues in her Division to have more time for development work.

The officers were commended for their devotion and effort in completing the project of providing current data at Tai Tam Bay for supporting the East Asian Games held in Hong Kong in December 2009. The success of the project has enhanced the Observatory's professional image.

The officers were commended for their professionalism, dedication, and endurance of hardship for the establishment of the Po Shan Seismograph Station. They closely monitored the progress of the project to ensure that it could be completed in time. They also tackled difficult problems with innovative solutions and successfully installed the equipment under harsh environment.

The officer was commended for his continuous outstanding performance. As a very experienced officer, he always made sound judgment in deciding the actions to be taken for the timely maintenance of the meteorological instruments at the airport, even under very urgent situations.

The officer was commended for his devotion and effort in setting up a short-range LIDAR on the rooftop of AsiaWorld-Expo (AWE) for studying the low-level wind effects in association with the building. He has demonstrated his capability of handling a complicated project on his own through close co-ordination with other parties.

The officer was given a letter of appreciation for his devotion to work. With his very good knowledge of IT systems, he always worked whole-heartedly to ensure high availability of HKO systems.

The officer was given a letter of appreciation for his positive and proactive attitude. He was a very experienced and judicious technician working in operation and maintenance of weather radars. He always strived to improve his work.
