The project has derived an important tool for the CFO to effectively prepare the forecasts and warnings, and also disseminate these data to all downstream users without delay. |

Their team has arranged these activities, including the student project competition on 'Climate Change' as well as the year-end Fun Fair at the Victoria Park, practically and single-handedly. All activities were very well received by the public. |

| These three officers were commended for their devotion and effort in providing the round-the-clock forecasting service for the Olympic and Paralympic Equestrian Events in Hong Kong. Besides making regular weather forecasts for the competition venues, they also kept close contacts with the Equestrian Company and the veterinary representative of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) through a dedicated telephone line to assist the Equestrian Company to set the event schedules and make venue arrangements. After the Events, the Observatory received much praise from relevant organizations such as the Equestrian Company, the veterinary representative of the FEI, etc. |

Their team has exercised great caution and professionalism on the design of ATLAS. The system is indeed one of the most sophisticated automatic lightning alert systems operating at airports in the world. |

Their team has been untiring in coordinating with the members to set up their own weather stations to better serve the community. The HK Co-WIN further served as a platform for the students to develop investigative studies on weather and environmental monitoring. Their team's contribution in developing the HK Co-WIN is very impressive. |

| Mr Lei was commended for his meritorious performance in coordinating the transformer upgrading project in the Headquarters of the Observatory conducted on 13 December 2008. This was a very complicated exercise given the large number of parties involved and the many uncertainties over the power requirement of the HKO equipment. Due to his good preparation in the past three months and his commitment, the upgrading exercise was carried out smoothly to the satisfaction of all parties concerned. |
