Enhanced Weather Information for South China Coastal Waters

Commencing 18 July 2005, the Hong Kong Observatory has enhanced the Weather Information for South China Coastal Waters, extending the outlook to 72 hours (i.e. for a period of 48 hours following the 24-hour forecast).

Information of tropical cyclone will be provided in the general situation of the Weather Information for South China Coastal Waters whenever a tropical cyclone is located in the area of 10-30^oN and 105-130^oE, extending the eastern boundary of the area from 125^oE to 130^oE. In addition, information on the intensity of tropical cyclone in terms of the maximum sustained wind speed near its centre will also be provided.
