After forming over the western North Pacific on 22 November, Nida gradually intensified into a super typhoon but weakened into a typhoon on 30 November. On 1 December, it was located over the western North Pacific about 590 km south-southwest of Iwo Jima, moving west-northwestwards slowly. Nida gradually weakened into a tropical storm the next day.
