4 March 2013

The Hong Kong Observatory website# won the Ruby Award of the Web Care Award 2011-2012 organized by the Internet Professional Association (iProA).

Over the years, the Observatory has been actively pursuing web accessibility design. The Observatory was granted the Web Care Awards by the iProA in 2006, 2008, 2009 and 2010 respectively in recognition of the efforts in building no-barrier website to provide the needy communities with equal opportunities in sharing the benefits brought about by the development of the Internet.

Corporate social responsibility is fundamental to the Observatory's culture and core value. The website of the Hong Kong Observatory had been enhanced with web accessibility design since its launch in 1996. To facilitate browsing of the website by all sectors of the community, the Observatory website has incorporated such features as audio webpages, alternative texts for images and banners, and sufficient color contrast, etc.
