HKO website won the top 10 ".hk" website and awarded bronze prize for corporate group

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) website won the Hong Kong top 10 ".hk" website 2010 and awarded the bronze prize for corporate group (with 100 or more employees). Details can be found at 2010 top 10 ".hk" website competition result announcement .

The top 10 ".hk" website competition 2010 was organised by the Hong Kong Internet Registration Corporation Limited (HKIRC). There were over 160 corporate as well as small and medium enterprises (SME) entries for the competition and judges ranked the entries based on criteria such as industry innovation, look-and-feel and ease of navigation, interaction, domain innovation and relevance, and contribution to society.

The HKO website is tailored to users' needs. It provides not only one-stop webpage specialised for user groups including schools, senior citizens, hikers and fishermen and others, but also provides personalised "MyObservatory" location-based weather and lightning location services. It also supports mobile Internet and links with major social networking websites. The visit rate has increased by about 30 times in the past decade and reached 4.9 millions a day in 2010.
