Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Joined Meeting on Cooperation in Meteorological Operation and Seminar

Experts from the meteorological authorities of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao met at the Hong Kong Observatory from 27 February to 1 March 2017 for the 31st Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Seminar on Meteorological Science and Technology and the 22nd Guangdong - Hong Kong - Macao Meeting on Cooperation in Meteorological Operations. The annual meeting and seminar are organized by Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao in turn. Hong Kong was the host this year. The China Meteorological Administration also participated in the meeting.

The cooperation meeting reviewed the results of cooperation in operation of the three parties in the past year. It also discussed the new direction in future cooperation and development. These included improvement in information network and data communication, exchange of experience in new measurement techniques, finalization of arrangement in meteorological operation of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, and promotion of regional meteorological cooperation, etc.

At this year’s seminar, meteorological experts from the three parties exchanged views on a number of topics in meteorological research and applications, including public weather services, analysis of high-impact weather, application of numerical weather prediction models, new techniques in forecasting and measurement, climate change and forecasting, etc.
