Talk on Aeronautical Meteorology for Air Scouts

22 March 2010

More than 20 members of the Air Scout Troop of 1661st Kowloon Group of Scout Association of Hong Kong visited the Observatory on 20 February 2010. Apart from seeing the Central Forecasting Office and the weather observing equipment, the air scouts attended a talk conducted by an experienced aviation forecaster, Mr Paul Ho, on that day. The Observatory is devoted to promoting knowledge on weather. The content of that talk included basic weather observations and forecasting, decoding of aviation weather reports (METAR) and the Observatory's aviation weather services. The air scouts participated the visit joyously. The team leader, Dr Philippe Li, expressed that they had a wonderful time at the Observatory, and the talk was informative and yet easy-to-understand. It not only enhanced the meteorological knowledge of the air scouts, but also helped them to acquire a Pathfinder Award.
