Civil Aviation Administration of China visited the Observatory

Mr. Wang Zhiqing, Deputy Director General of Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) and Mr. Li Qiguo, Deputy Director General of Air Traffic Management Bureau (ATMB) led teams of experts to visit the Observatory on 11 May 2016 and 17 to 18 May 2016 respectively. A biennial senior management meeting on aviation meteorology between ATMB and HKO was also held during the visit. Work progress since the last meeting was reviewed, and the areas of collaboration in the forthcoming two years were formulated.

During the senior management meeting, both sides discussed the development of aviation meteorology in the international arena, in particular the establishment of Asian Aviation Meteorological Centre, Aviation Research Demonstration Project and the 13th Five-Year Plan. The two sides agreed to aim for aviation meteorology development scaling new heights through strengthening the collaboration, with becoming a global aviation forecast centre as a long term goal.
