The Guild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators (GAPAN) visited the Observatory

7 December 2011

The Master of GAPAN, Captain O W Epton from the United Kingdom, and their members visited the Observatory on 1 December 2011. In the past years, GAPAN has been actively participating in the Observatory's liaison group on aviation weather services and provided valuable suggestions. The Observatory and GAPAN are also exploring the possibility to jointly publish the booklet on "Low level wind effect". They made a tour to the Central Forecasting Office and History Room at the Observatory's Headquarters. The visitors showed great interest in the advanced weather services and new dissemination channels, including the personalized location specific weather service mobile applications "MyWorldWeather" and "MyObservatory". They commended the proactive and creativity of the Observatory which sets an excellent example of meteorological community to better serve the public.
