Professor MacKeown of the University of Hong Kong sharing his research of the early history of the Observatory

Professor (Honorary) P. Kevin MacKeown from Department of Physics of the University of Hong Kong visited the Observatory on 24 August 2012. In a forum, he shared his experience in research relating to the early history of the Observatory.

Professor MacKeown is an expert researcher and the author of the book "Early China Coast Meteorology - The Role of Hong Kong".

He gave an enlightening talk full of valuable information about the establishment and the early work of the Observatory. In particular, the part about early storm warnings inspired further thoughts and reflection from a historical viewpoint on the appropriate responses in the protection of life and property during inclement weather through community and international collaboration.
