The Observatory Winning the Civil Service Enhancement Award Gold Prize for the Sixth Time

The Hong Kong Observatory gained recognition again in the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2019, winning a total of five awards, including the Gold Prize of the Departmental Service Enhancement Award (Small Department Category). This is the sixth time the Observatory winning this award following 2005, 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017. As indicated in adjudicators' comment, the services of the Observatory are wide-ranging and satisfy the needs of different stakeholders. The constant push of novelty surpasses the expectations of the users. They also commented that the Observatory is skilled in applying new media to interact with the public.
The Observatory was also awarded the following prizes under the scheme:

Meritorious Award of Team Award (Crisis Support)
- Supporting Team for Mangkhut
Special Citation (Application of Innovation and Technology) of Departmental Service Enhancement Award (Small Department Category)

- Regional Specialized Meteorological Centre
The Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme is organized by the Civil Service Bureau on a biennial basis. The objectives of the Scheme are to recognise the efforts of departments and teams which provide excellent service, to promote a customer-focused culture in the civil service, and to inspire departments and teams for continuous improvement in the delivery of public services.
The Hong Kong Observatory keeps pace with the times to provide people-oriented quality services in meteorology and related fields, and to enhance the society's capability in natural disaster prevention and response, through science, innovation and partnership
