Mission accomplished - "Good Luck Beijing - HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup"

25 October 2007

It was a great challenge to provide time-specific and location-specific weather forecasts to support the equestrian competition in August this year, particularly in the unsettle weather associated with Pabuk. Despite the difficulties, the Observatory's weather service was widely recognized and appreciated. The event's veterinary delegate, Professor Leo Jeffcott, in his letter to the FEI President, HRH Princess Haya Bint Al Hussein, said that "none of this (success of the event) would have been possible without the enormous help, support and advice from the Hong Kong Observatory." In her reply, HRH Princess Haya said that she "cannot stress how valuable a service you (Prof. Jeffcott) and your partners in the Hong Kong Observatory and Veterinary Colleagues have done for the horse world." In recognition of our service, the Chairman of Good Luck Beijing - HKSAR 10th Anniversary Cup Organizing Committee, Mr Lam Woon-kwong, honoured the Observatory with a certificate of appreciation.
