Story on the "Science in the Public Service" Campaign with Director of the Hong Kong Observatory

19 January 2006

The "Science in the Public Service" campaign, jointly organized by 30 government departments, was launched on 13 January. The objective of the year-long campaign is to let people know more about the scientific achievements of government departments and the application of science and technology in providing services to the public.

The news.gov.hk interviewed the Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, Mr. Lam Chiu-ying, regarding the campaign on 10 January. Mr. Lam said that civil servants had been improving their work using the most up-to-date knowledge offered by science and technology. In recent years, despite reduction in the head count of the civil service, public services have improved both in quantity and quality thanks to science and technology.
