The Observatory web site winning the 2008 Meritorious Website Contest

The Observatory web site was named one of the ten most meritorious web sites in 2008. The winning web sites were determined by online voting by the public and a Professional Adjudication Panel with reference to the information content and user-friendliness of the web sites. Mr. H.G. Wai,Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory said that the award represented public's appreciation of the Observatory work and that the Observatory would further enrich its web site to meet the need of the public. "2008 Meritorious Website Contest" was organised by the Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority. The co-organisers included the Education Bureau, the Committee on Home-School Co-operation, the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association and the Radio Television Hong Kong. The objectives of the Contest were to encourage young people to pay more visits to healthy websites, i.e. websites without any objectionable materials, and to recognise the contributions of producers of healthy websites.
