The Observatory winning the Civil Service Enhancement Award Gold Prize for the fourth time

The Hong Kong Observatory won four prizes under the Civil Service Outstanding Service Award Scheme 2013, including the Gold Prize of the Departmental Service Enhancement Award (Small Department Category). This is the fourth time the Observatory has won this biennial award following previous successes in 2005, 2009 and 2011. The Observatory was also awarded the following prizes under the scheme:Bronze Prize of the Inter-departmental Award
- Tropical Cyclone Surveillance Flight(Hong Kong Observatory and
Government Flying Service)
Meritorious Award of the Specialised Service Award
- Aviation Safety Safeguarding Team
Meritorious Award of the General Public Service Award
- Digital Weather Forecast Team
For many years, the Observatory has been striving for excellence in the delivery of public weather services using an innovative approach, including the provision of user-oriented weather information developed in a caring manner and tailored for different user groups. The Observatory is also working proactively with various collaborating partners to maximize synergy and achieve win-win results.
