Results of opinion survey on Marine Meteorological Services 2011

9 November 2011

An opinion survey of ship captains' views on the marine meteorological services provided by the Hong Kong Observatory is conducted every year since 1989. The survey helps the Observatory to obtain user feedback and suggestions so as to maintain a high standard of marine meteorological services.

The 2011 results showed that 98% of respondents rated the marine weather forecasts issued by the Observatory as "accurate" or "very accurate", levelling the highest record last year. All the respondents rated the tropical cyclone warnings for shipping as "accurate" or "highly accurate".
