Results of opinion survey on Marine Meteorological Services 2010

22 September 2010

An opinion survey of ship captains' views on the marine meteorological services provided by the Hong Kong Observatory is conducted every year since 1989. The survey helps the Observatory to obtain user feedback and suggestions so as to maintain a high standard of marine meteorological services.

The 2010 results showed that 98% of respondents rated the marine weather forecasts issued by the Observatory as "accurate" or "very accurate", the highest since 1989. All the respondents rated the tropical cyclone warnings for shipping as "accurate" or "highly accurate".
