Climate Change and the Sinking of the Titanic

Mr. Leung Wing-mo, Assistant Director of the Hong Kong Observatory, was invited by the Pooi To Middle School to deliver a talk on climate change on 1 June 2009. The talk was well received by the students and teachers. Using the tragic sinking of the Titanic as a lead-in, Mr. Leung explained to the students the latest on climate change and its impact to our daily life. The responses of the students were positive. Their zeal reflected their concerns for climate change and their care for the environment. The Observatory has been actively promoting public understanding and awareness of climate change in recent years. From September 2007 to May 2009, over 150 talks on climate change have been conducted for schools and various community organizations. Looking ahead, the Observatory will continue to promote the public's understanding on climate change and enhance the reach of its publicity campaigns.For schools interested in inviting Observatory staff to deliver talks on climate change, please visit:
