The rainfall map for 16-18 June 1972. The rainstorms caused serious landslides and the collapse of several buildings in Hong Kong. The death toll reached about 150, prompting the Hong Kong government to set up the Geotechnical Engineering Office in 1977 and to launch the Landslip Warning.
