Carved oak FitzRoy barometer from the Royal Polytechnic Institute of London, produced in the UK in the late nineteenth century. An early weather forecasting instrument following Vice-Admiral FitzRoy's design, it used pressure and temperature readings of the current and previous days to predict weather. At that time, many British ports had installed these barometers.
