The new “Localised Heavy Rain Advisory” service will take into consideration a forecast element, to alert people regarding potential flooding due to heavy rain in Hong Kong districts, so they can take precautionary measures.

The Observatory launched the “Localised Heavy Rain Advisory” service on 14 May, to replace the existing “Announcement on Localised Heavy Rain” service. In addition to the actual rainfall recorded, the issuance of the advisory also takes into consideration the nowcast rainfall, with a view to advising people of localised heavy rain as early as possible, so they can be aware of the situation and make early preparations.
