The new 9-day “Probability of Significant Rain” forecast

On 23 March, the Observatory launched the 9-day “Probability of Significant Rain” forecast (“PSR” forecast), as an enhancement to the 9-day weather forecast service. This indicates the probability of accumulated rainfall generally over Hong Kong reaching 10 mm (i.e. the approximate daily mean rainfall during the rainy season). The public may refer to the PSR forecast to plan their activities in advance, and better prepare for potential heavy rain. The Observatory has produced two episodes of “Cool Met Stuff” to introduce this new service [in Cantonese].
