Introduction:

The HKO e-Bulletin on Educational Resources is published on-line every three months. It covers in layman terms various interesting topics related to weather phenomena and popular science, as well as developments in new science and technology related to the Observatory's service. We welcome your views and suggestions.

The articles in this issue discuss a wide range of issues. One article elaborates on the apparent "cooling" trend in global climate. While world leaders fervently discussed ways to mitigate global warming, the weather in the northern hemisphere had been abnormally cold with snow storms in the recent winter. Is it global warming or cooling?  Another article explains why very windy weather can affect Hong Kong when a tropical cyclone is quite far away from Hong Kong, thanks to the influence of the northeast monsoon.  We hope you enjoy reading the articles in this bulletin.
