A Virtual Tour to The World's First LIDAR at The Airport

Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) installed a LIght Detection And Ranging (LIDAR) system at the Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) in mid-2002. It is the first of its kind in the world for weather alerting at an airport. The LIDAR is located near the centre of the airport. This enables it to monitor the winds over the two runways.
