Addition of “Fuxi” AI Model Forecast Products on the “Earth Weather” Webpage

24 May 2024

The Observatory today (24 May 2024) enhanced the contents of the “Earth Weather” website. In addition to existing forecast products of the European Centre of Medium-range Weather Forecast (ECMWF) model and an Artificial Intelligence (AI) weather prediction model “Pangu”, products of another AI model “Fuxi” (“Fuxi model”) have been added to the website. The forecasts of “Fuxi model” include wind direction, wind speed, air temperature, relative humidity, mean sea-level pressure and rainfall for the coming fifteen days.

Seizing the opportunities brought by recent developments in AI, the Observatory has continued to actively introduce and use AI-powered weather prediction models for reference in preparing weather forecasts and tropical cyclone forecast tracks as a trial.

The address of the “Earth Weather” is https://maps.hko.gov.hk/wxviewer/index.html?lang=en. The new feature will also be added on the “MyObservatory” app in upcoming updates.
