The Observatory Enhances Marine Meteorological Information Services

12 December 2022

The Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) launched the enhanced webpage on “Meteorological Information for Fishermen” today (12 December). An interactive map (Figure 1) with automatic sea-state forecast products was provided to enable the fishing sector, shipping communities and people engaging in marine activities over the northern part of the South China Sea to easily appreciate the changes in weather and related conditions over the sea in the next few days, including forecast of sea surface wind, wave, swell and tropical cyclone track, etc.

In addition to the HKO website, the new service can also be accessed through the HKO’s official WeChat account '香港天文台 HKO'. Besides, the new service will also be incorporated in the next update of the “MyObservatory” app.
