English version of "A Tour of Tropical Cyclones" kid e-book is published

The Hong Kong Observatory launches the English version of the "A Tour of Tropical Cyclones" e-book for children today (18 October 2021).The Chinese version of the e-book was well received with more than 30,000 page views since its launch in June this year. With a view to promoting the understanding of tropical cyclones and raising the awareness of wider audience to disaster preparedness and response, an English version of the e-book was developed. Collaboration will also be made with the Hong Kong Education City for inclusion of the e-book in their EdBOOkShelf in the near future. Their Executive Director Mr Victor Cheng Pat-leung remarked, "The Hong Kong Education City always endeavours to promote digital reading and help students make good use of educational technology. It is delighted to see the Observatory launching an e-book for children with the theme of tropical cyclones. Through simple and easy-to-understand graphics as well as multimedia interactive features such as animations and videos, the e-book enables young readers to master weather phenomena and scientific knowledge, thereby enhancing their reading experience."
