The Observatory Enhances the Very Hot Weather Warning Service through Partnerships

14 September 2021

The Observatory enhanced the precautions associated with the Very Hot Weather Warning (VHWW) today (14 September 2021). Under prolonged heat, members of the public will be reminded to prevent discomforts related to very-hot weather and pay due attention to health conditions. If required, one should take rest and seek help immediately, and seek medical advice as soon as possible. These new precautions are to better suit the health needs of the elderlies and persons with chronic medical conditions. Details can be found in the VHWW webpage at the Observatory’s website.

Under global warming, Hong Kong sees increasing numbers of very-hot days and hot nights. Through scientific analysis and partnership with the Senior Citizen Home Safety Association, Department of Health and the Labour Department in recent years, the Observatory aims to enhance the VHWW services progressively.
