Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Meeting on Cooperation in Meteorological Operations Convened in Macao

The 30th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao (GHM) Meeting on Cooperation in Meteorological Operations and the 38th GHM Seminar on Meteorological Science and Technology were held on 11 and 12 February 2026 in Macao. Apart from personnel from Guangdong Meteorological Service (GMS), Hong Kong Observatory (HKO), and Macao Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (DSMG), representatives from China Meteorological Administration (CMA), Guangxi Meteorological Service and Hainan Meteorological Service also attended the meeting.

The GHM authorities reviewed the progress of their work over the past year and discussed future cooperation plans in the cooperation meeting on the first day. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the cooperation meeting. Mr. Pan Jinjun, Engineer-in-Chief and Director General of Department of Data Resources of CMA; Mr. Zhuang Xudong, Director General of GMS; Mr. Leong Weng-kun, Director of DSMG; and Ms. Song Man-kuen, Acting Director of HKO celebrated the occasion. The parties are looking forward to continuing cooperation to advance the Meteorological Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (2020-2035), contributing to the high-quality meteorological development in the GBA.

In the subsequent technology seminar, meteorological experts from different sides presented a total of 24 papers on the topics covering AI weather prediction models and machine learning applications, satellite remote sensing and data assimilation, tropical cyclone research, as well as high-impact weather event analysis. During the meeting, experts engaged in active exchange and fruitful discussions on the reports.
