Director-General of the Meteorological Service Singapore visited the Hong Kong Observatory
16 December 2025
Ms Koh Li-Na, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the National Environment Agency of Singapore and Director-General of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS), led a delegation on a visit to the Hong Kong Observatory (HKO) on 9 December 2025.
During the visit, both parties reviewed the progress of their collaboration within international frameworks, including their joint participation in the World Meteorological Organization’s Aviation Research and Development Project Phase 2, as well as their recent active involvement in the trial for the future enroute "Hazardous Weather Information Service" (HWIS) hosted by HKO. Both sides also engaged in detailed discussions on future cooperation areas, such as public weather services and aviation meteorology.
The delegation toured several key operational units of the Observatory, including the Central Forecasting Office, the Radiation Monitoring and Assessment Centre, the TV Studio, and the Airport Meteorological Office at the Hong Kong International Airport, gaining an in-depth understanding of the operations that underpin the Observatory’s various meteorological services. The visit further deepened the close collaborative relationship between HKO and MSS.
